A Service Unit Team is a group of volunteers who manage the functions of a particular geographic area of Audubon Council. They are charged with insuring that Girl Scouting is available to every girl in that area. Every troop leader is assigned to a Service Unit in their area.
The team is responsible for organizing troops in their designated area by recruiting adult volunteers and girls. The Service Unit Team also provides support for their leaders by way of training, giving advice and guidance, and pooling of resources. Many events held during the year, such as the Family Partnership Campaign and cookie sales are conducted through the service unit as a team effort.
The Service Unit Chair is responsible for making sure that all leaders understand their jobs and get the help they may need to do it. The Service Unit Team are volunteer leaders who are elected or appointed by the Service Unit to hold specific chair positions, such as assistant chair, registrar, treasurer, recruitment chair and cookie chair.
The council's Membership Specialist assigned to the service unit provides much of the on-the-job help needed by the members of the service unit team. The Service Unit usually meets once a month during the school year.
